Listening to students

Feedback, diversity and development

We care what our students think of us. That’s why we frequently ask the young adults at St Piers College how they are getting on, and respond to their feedback to ensure they’re getting the most out of college.

Students are actively encouraged to contribute to the running of the college and we involve the students in decision-making, giving them a voice and a sense of independence. Students are:

  • consulted on the change to times of the college day
  • able to represent their peers on the Health and Safety Committee and the Equality and Diversity Committee, and attend meetings of the Student Council and Governing Body.

We also have a student ‘Outreach Group’ whose members talks to companies, community organisations and schools about the impact of their epilepsy.

Sharing their stories

The students here also share their own personal stories. They talk to us, local businesses, other schools and colleges, as well as new staff - helping to raise awareness of what it's like to live with a disability.
