Sensory

At St Piers College, we’ve developed a unique sensory curriculum which allows individuals to continue learning through alternative means of communication like touch and sound.

Offered almost nowhere else in the country, our programme is fully supported by a team of sensory experts who are able to look at each student individually and devise a plan based on their specific needs.

Sensory rooms

Sensory rooms are unique here at St Piers College and have a profound impact on the lives of students, especially those with more severe learning difficulties.

Our sensory suites are a calming and relaxing space to allow students to express themselves, helping them to reduce fidgeting and improve concentration. Young adults can explore alternative ways of communicating and expressing themselves, fully supported by the care and attention of dedicated professionals.

Feedback from parents

Quote Icon My son is a changed person. He never wanted to engage with staff or his peers, often he was non compliant and would not interact in social activities or undertake tasks. He is now so much more proactive, he has learnt home skills where he undertakes tasks using his own initiative either with minimum prompting or totally unsupported.
