Vivien’s career encompasses journalism, business, the voluntary sector and the NHS. A graduate of Manchester University, she became a journalist, spending eight years as a political correspondent. She spent 17 years in consultancy becoming Chief Executive of communication group Grayling’s public affairs operation.
Vivien worked from 1997-2002 at St Piers (now Young Epilepsy), as Director of Marketing, then Marketing and Fundraising. She was a board member of Surrey and Sussex NHS Healthcare Trust from 1998-2002, latterly as chairman.
Vivien is President of the Nystagmus Network, a self-help group for those who have nystagmus – a visual impairment – and their families. She founded the charity after her eldest son was diagnosed with the condition. Vivien was a trustee for nine years of the Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment.
Vivien lives in Lingfield and since retirement plays an active role in village community affairs.
